The idea of a partnership between Thales and Safran has fizzled

The Directorate General for Armaments (DGA) wanted to see Safran and Thales share a single department, to reduce their costs. Despite the active support of Herv? Morin, Minister of Defence, the idea fizzled. According to Les Echos, the leaders of both groups agreed on Monday to bury the project in their partnering activities optronics and inertial navigation during a meeting at the Ministry of Defence.
Safran announced internally on Monday night that discussions were "closed," says Les Echos. The business daily reported the group's conclusions in this document resulting from the breakdown of negotiations: "This naturally leads us to pursue our own activities specifically our defense. (…) We will seek appropriate partnerships with all actors in the field with a convergence strategy with that of Rudder.(…) In addition, Safran will continue its strategy of developing and acquiring critical mass in the areas of avionics and electronics exploring alternative avenues that the proposed exchange to Thales in part of the discussions mentioned above.
For his part, spoke only Thales yesterday its sales in the first quarter.
