Atos: Sales were down in late March

The French company Atos Origin Service has issued today a turnover for the first quarter of 1.231 billion euros, down 4.9% year on year, but confirmed its financial targets for the year. This figure is in line with market expectations, DowJones Newswires consensus building on 1.230 billion. At constant scope and exchange rates, revenues are down 5.5%.

"After three months of activity, the Group confirms its objectives as he had communicated to the market during the presentation of 2009 results," said Atos in a statement.

For 2010, Atos Origin provides therefore further increase its operating margin of between 50 to 100 basis points (290 million euros in 2009, 5.7% of turnover) and contemplates a level of operational liquidity of the same order in 2009 (117 million).

The group plans a slight decrease in organic sales business, however, lower than that recorded in 2009 (-3.7%), reflecting the collapse of one of its customers, the German group Arcandor distribution quick pay day loan.

Among the activities of Atos, Outsourcing sector has generated first quarter revenues of 448 million euros, down 4% organic compared to the same period of 2009. The System Integration division recorded an organic decrease of 8.7%, to 448 million euros. Council activity fall by 20.1% organic to 57 million.The transactional services to high technology have recorded sales of 238 million, up 0.6%, and the activity of Atos in the medical sector (medical BPO) has earned 40 million euros, up 7 5%.

However, no information has filtered into the press on the possible acquisition that prepares Atos UK, RBS WorldPay.
