Air: the low cost has the wind in its sails

The low cost continues to seduce. British airline easyJet said in a press release on Tuesday a 9.4% increase in the number of seats reserved in the month of June compared to the previous year. 4.54 million tickets have been purchased, against 4.15 in June 2009. The load factor of aircraft rose 0.9% yoy, from 86.3 to 87.2%.

Rival Ryanair is no exception: the Irish company has released figures soaring, and its passenger traffic increased 15% year on year to reach 6.71 million rooms booked in June

Ryanair however recalls that among the passengers, 1.45 million have not traveled because of disturbances related to volcanic ash cloud came from Iceland.The rate of filling its planes lost a point (84% against 85% in June 2009).

The European court has also banned the Irish airline to take control of its rival Aer Lingus, saying that Ryanair had received a dominant position.
